Männer alleine im Wald

Welcome to the infotainment park “Men’s World” – where you can marvel at the last remaining men.

What sounds like science fiction today was a grotesque reality in the early 2020s. At that time, humanity clung desperately to the concept of binary gender. Particularly, the male gender seemed to require protection—just like the forests, which had already begun to vanish. In a former shopping mall, a group of male performers lived behind glass walls, preserving "authentic, average masculinity" alongside remnants of the forest. So step inside and take a look before it’s too late!

In “Männer alleine im Wald ”, the audience moves in small groups equipped with headphones through the Wall Center, where individual storefronts transform into performance spaces. The text is based on interviews Susanne Zaun conducted with various men during walks in the forest. Through these life and everyday narratives, multifaceted concepts of masculinity are revealed, circling questions of the body, power, and how we coexist.
